My brother builds 100 million dollar satellites and uses this exact tape on the satellites. He gave me a roll of it and I cherished it as something special. It is very strong, sticks better than any duct tape I have ever used and is very cool because it is used for space machines. I have tried to find good duct tape at hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowes and Ace but none of them carry duct tape that is worth one cent regardless of how super strength they claim it is or what ever high price they charge for it. It's all crap. This stuff however rocks. When the roll by brother gave me was used up I got online and found it available to everybody and at not NASA or Military prices but at normal reasonable prices. I'm so glad I was able to get more without asking my brother to grab some from the clean room where he builds satellites. Here is an example of how excellent this tape is. I put up some plastic sheeting in a client's garage in order to isolate my work space from his convertible sports car. I used some of this tape to adhere one vertical stretch to a very roughly textured cement wall then stopped because I did not want to use it all. It's special as I mentioned. I ran to Ace and asked for their best duct tape and they directed me to a Scotch brand duct tape, also made by 3M that is marketed as "professional" "super strength" and is was their most expensive. I used this Scotch duct tape to finish putting up the plastic sheeting on additional cement walls as well as several stretches of unpainted wood. The new duct tape did not last the day before it failed and came down from all surfaces while the 8979 satellite grade duct tape is still holding strong to the rough cement a full month later. Amazing stuff. Why don't brick and mortar stores sell this? Why do I have to find it online and have it delivered if I want some? Are not the local stores interested in selling good quality duct tape that actually works? Why is crap tape so heavily marketed and expensive and why does it suck? Amazon has a market for this stuff from me. I despise you marketing gurus with your sell more crap for more money more often motto that is ruining everything! I remember my dad's duct tape just worked without question. Now I'm all bummed out. I'm going to go play with my space duct tape until I feel better. Maybe I can find a marketer to gag and bind with it. That would cheer me up.It is down on a tennis court for testing to make sure it leaves no residue when pulled on 6/14.Various different projects. Durable and adhesion was awesomeAs a sailboat owner who also races, I've tried a variety of cloth tapes (including Gaffer's tape). This has to be the best duct tape I've ever tried. The cloth tape is strong and flexible, and doesn't easily tear accidentally. The adhesive is strong and doesn't leave a residue even after the tape has been exposed to the sun and weather for over a year. It holds well even when repeatedly dunked in seawater. The only negative is that it can be difficult to find and it is usually more expensive than other cloth tape (except Gaffer's tape).Edit (11/26/2017): I have been using this duct tape over 12 years now. It still performs well with regards to adhesive strength and durability. I use it it many non-sailing applications. I've had duct tape on items over 7 years, and it still removes easily without residue. And the tape does not seem to age much. The negative is still the same as my 2008 review above: it is more expensive than other tapes, but worth it if you need it.Edit: 6/9/2022: I have found items that have this duct tape on them for over 15 years, and it still comes off cleanly. It’s also stays strong and flexible. It’s getting more expensive, but once you try it, you realize many uses for it (I’m here today to buy more!).This is real durable tape. It's high quality as far as sticking like its suposed to. It dont get all stringy like the cheap dollar store duct tape does when you cut it.This works great! The color is almost perfect.so far, this tape is the best tape I have used. I have tried the other 'heavy duty' tapes available at W*****t and local hardware stores (A**, HD, etc) and this tape lives up to its reviews. There has not been any residue on anything I have put the tape on. It holds well. The best thing I like is that even though it is tough and will not leave a residue, it is not super thick like the other ones. The thinness and flexibility make this a winner. Even though it is a bit more expensive, I will be buying another roll when I need good duct tape. This is professional grade tape - you cannot buy this at the hardware store. I had some foam insulation sheets in the greenhouse that hardware store 3m brand tape wouldn't hold. I had an old roll of this and it worked great. I used it up and bought more - I'll never buy any other duct tape ever again!Es ist ein echt gutes Gewebeklebeband und hält was es verspricht. LEider müssen solch gute Produkte immer so teuer sein.
